About the festival
35 mm Vis Film Festival is a unique film festival. It shows all films on 35 mm print. Just like in the past, when we developed our cameras after summer vacations, we looked after every shot, like filmmakers looked after every meter of their film strip. Every frame had to be well rehearsed and everything had to work out. Today, at this boutique film festival, we watch films carefully preserved in archive cinemas in Belgrade, Zagreb, Slovakia and Czech Republic, and in this way, we pay tribute to filmmaking. In the first year of the festival, in 2023, we screened films of great legends classified under the same name “Prague School”.
This year, on September 6, we additionally celebrate the 60. years of existence of the Ljetno kino Hrid (summer open air cinema), with the film that was shown back then for the first time, Gone with the Wind. Next days from 7.09. -10.09.2024. brings the best films by Miloš Forman, and a gourmet addition, the film Chocolat, selected by Dieter Kosslick.
The festival’s selectors Rudolf Biermann, Mike Downey and Dieter Kosslick once again will make the 35mm Vis Film Festival a magical little festival in 5 days, bringing 7 films under the starry sky of the city of Vis.
Experience the charm of watching movies on 35mm filmstrip.
5 days, 7 films and the starry sky of the city of Vis.
